FAQs
FAQs
Can I put the Glass Lunch Pot Large in the microwave?
The only part of the Glass Lunch Pot Large that is NOT microwave-safe is the stainless steel lid, otherwise, the glass pot, wood fibre base and silicone lid can go in the microwave. The silicone lid makes splatter-proof heating easy, and to ensure it doesn’t get sucked into the pot while it’s being heated, lift the lid and push the tab detail inside the rim to create an air gap. Heat your glass lunch pot inside the wood fiber base, as it does not retain heat and therefore can be handled safely. Food should be heated for a maximum of 2 minutes at a time, stir and repeat if necessary.
Can I use the Glass Lunch Pot Large in the oven?
The only parts of the product which are oven-safe are the Borosilicate Glass Pot and silicone lid. However, you must ensure that the glass is room temperature before placing it in the oven as glass is susceptible to thermal shock (meaning a sudden change in temperature) - which would cause it to break. When the glass is removed from the oven, AVOID running under cold water or placing on a cold surface. DO NOT allow direct contact with flames or use it under the grill.
Can I put the Glass Lunch Pot Large in the dishwasher?
For optimal product maintenance, place the parts on the top rack of your dishwasher. Try to avoid placing the glass pot under cold water or on a cold surface if it’s hot from the dishwasher, as this may cause it to break.
Can I put the Glass Lunch Pot Large in the freezer?
You can place all parts in the freezer however, as liquids expand when frozen, ensure you leave a space and do not overfill. Ensure food has defrosted completely and has come to room temperature before reheating, DO NOT use the microwave or oven to defrost.
Is this product BPA and BPS free?
Yes, all parts, and all products at Black+Blum are BPS and BPA-free.
The stainless steel lid feels quite stiff sometimes, how can I fix this?
Simply wipe the inside of the lid with vegetable oil and let dry if you’re finding it gets stiff after using a few times. Always make sure the glass pot and silicone lid are INSIDE the wood fiber base before you attempt to shut it, as the stainless steel lid can get stuck when it’s empty.
What is the base made from?
It’s a mixture of 30% sustainably sourced PEFC wood fiber and polypropylene.
Do you sell replacement parts if anything breaks?
Yes, definitely. At Black+Blum we are all about conscious consumption, so we offer replacement parts on most of our products. Simply visit the REPLACEMENT PARTS section of our site to order what you need.

a word from the designer
The brief for this design came from seeing a growing trend of people using standard glass food containers or mason/kilner jars as their lunch box. Although these products were fine for home-use, they were not suited for on-the-go, being heavy, fragile and not fully leak proof. Taking advantage of the light weight and strength of Borosilicate glass, we were able to create a better solution. The design is modern but has an almost utilitarian retro appeal. Using Stainless Steel and the wood-fibre polymer base to protect the glass is a lovely combination of materials. The end design is innovative and unique to the market. It offers a durable, functional solution that will age well and is perfect for carrying your food with you and for eating from.
